A realtor in Vancouver, B.C. commissioned me to write this as a gift to a young couple who had just purchased their first house. She put it in a silver frame. The poem is the first thing you see when you enter this beautiful, sunny home.
The sticker is still on our stove
The sweet smell of new carpet, the hum of the fridge
These new rooms full of promises welcome us home
And we feel a prayer in our trembling hearts
Asking God to please keep us safe and dreaming here
With apples in our pantry
Roses on our table
Friends by the fireplace
Where love and music will join our family
And stay here with us forever.
